The Wellness Initiative serves patients of the Anderson Free Clinic, and their families, who primarily live in documented food deserts with limited access to fresh, healthy produce. This program is designed to provide patients and their families with year-round free access to nutritious foods.
This pioneering project is being spearheaded by a dedicated team of medical, mental health, and nutrition professionals to promote a proactive approach to overall health and wellness. In addition to the assortment of fruits and vegetables grown in our hydroponic farms, we also provide resources such as cooking classes, recipes, and supplies to our patients, with the aim of assisting them in integrating healthier foods into their daily lives.
Hypertension was reduced from 52% of patients in 2023 to 46% in 2024.
