Renee McCormick – longtime friend, supporter, and volunteer of the Honea Path and Anderson Free Clinics – passed away on Friday, April 13th. Her service is scheduled for Wednesday, April 18th at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Anderson SC.
Founder of the Honea Path Free Clinic, Renee was Honea Path Free Clinic volunteer nurse and Volunteer Coordinator. A Critical Care Nurse before retiring, she kept her license current so that she could volunteer to help Free Clinic patients. Renee and her husband Bob worked tirelessly to make sure the clinic was maintained, always there to repair, replace, upgrade whatever needed to be done to keep the doors open.
Renee was also a member of the Anderson Free Clinic Board of Directors from 2009 through 2015, Executive Board Secretary in 2011, and since 2011, Board Member Emeritus. Renee rarely missed a Board meeting.
As Honea Path community liaison for Anderson Free Clinic, Renee’s work in Honea Path went well beyond inside the clinic as she worked through community efforts such as the Honea Path Walk with the Docs and other initiatives to raise awareness of the importance of healthcare for those who cannot afford it.
From the staff and volunteers of the Anderson and Honea Path Free Clinics – Renee will be terribly missed, but her life well spent, her caring and loving spirit, and her work to make life better for hundreds of people living in her own community will live on in the work of all of us.
We love you, Renee.
