Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of the Anderson Free Clinic. Whether you are a doctor wanting to donate your time and expertise or simply a community member who wants to help others and get involved, the Free Clinic has a space for you.

###

MEDICAL & DENTAL VOLUNTEERS
A team of physicians, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, and numerous others volunteer their time and talents to keep the clinic open. Volunteers are supported by a small paid staff. In addition to the volunteers in the clinic, there are specialty physicians and dentists who accept referrals in their offices at no charge. Many have been volunteering their time and energy since the Clinic’s beginning. The Clinic is in particular need of volunteer doctors, nurses, and dentists. Please contact Executive Director Barb Baptista for more information (226-1294, ext. 222 or Barb.Baptista@anmedhealth.org).

COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS
In the Clinic, community volunteers usually work in four hour shifts, doing everything from answering phones to filling prescriptions. No experience is needed for community volunteers, and volunteering is a great way to be active in the community and to help others. The Clinic is in need of an experienced volunteer grant writer, volunteers who can help answer phones, file, assist in the pharmacy and enter data. Please contact Sherry Lawson for more information about one of these positions (226-1294, ext. 225 or Sherry.Lawson@anmedhealth.org).

SPECIAL EVENTS VOLUNTEERS
From time to time, volunteers are needed to help with bulk mailings and special events like the Walk with the Docs. These volunteer opportunities are ideal for people who may not be able to volunteer on a weekly or monthly basis but would still like to give back to the Anderson community. The Free Clinic has a particular need for volunteers to join its Event Planning Committee. Event planning volunteers help plan Free Clinic events, solicit sponsors, and may even coordinate smaller special events.

Volunteers are critical to the Free Clinic’s operations. Without them, the Clinic would not be able to function. If you are interested in finding out more about volunteering, please contact Sherry Lawson at Sherry.Lawson@anmedhealth.org or 864-226-1294, ext. 225.
