Making  good lemonade with our lemons… :  To operate efficiently  with our reduced resources the Free Clinic  had to change  the Pharmacy and the medical clinic hours.  That was also the only way we were able to move forward with the goal of opening at least one evening /week, a much needed option for our working patients who can’t afford to come to us during the day.

A  new Tuesday through mid Friday compressed week is now in place. 

What are we missing? The participation of NEW volunteer medical providers.  If 52  medical professionals (Physician, PA or NP) come forward  to volunteer one to four Tuesday evening (5-7 pm) shift per year  Anderson Free Clinic  will be able to schedule between 400-1600 much needed patient visits.

Despite widespread concern about the uninsured and the viability of the safety net, free clinics have been overlooked and poorly studied, leaving old assumptions and beliefs largely unchallenged. As a result, policy discussions have been forestalled and potentially fruitful collaborations between free clinics and other safety net providers have been hindered.  Arch Intern Med. 2010;170(11):946-953.

Anderson Free Clinic is starting an E-News list!  It is VERY important to me that we stay in touch with the Clinic friends. So needless to say I am happy we can accomplish that, be environmentally friendly and still reduce our  printing and mailing costs.

I want to say thanks to the volunteer physicians, volunteer NP/nurses, operational support volunteers and staff for the meaning they give to ANDERSON FREE CLINIC!

Dr. Patel and Dr.Mike will be this week’s “closers”, volunteering tomorrow morning.
